Sparks of Insanity

Haphazard Explorations & Experiments In Fiction

About

Sparks of Insanity is a slowly growing collection of fiction written by yours truly. I place no limits or restrictions on myself here, and the game plan is essentially to put out fucked up literature – hopefully with a point most of the time – throughout the explorations. That’s something I would like to emphasize: this is very much an exploration. Aside from writing in junior high and high school, this is the first time I am openly writing fiction, and it is the first time I’m using avenues of thought and creation that are so prone to being filled with sex, violence, and repulsive levels of depravity.

The stories put here will sometimes have no real rhyme or reason to their order, and may range from semi-lengthy to extremely short. The nature of these stories evolve, the forms they take will be increasingly diverse. Murderers have the biggest spot light thus far, but the focus, themes, and perspectives are always at risk of changing. One of the first things I’ve done has been to make a disclaimer page. I might also make one for ‘inspirations’, as some will probably deserve a mention. A few worth mentioning right off the bat: Dexter (the show and the character), Marilyn MansonHannibal Lecter, Mike Wilson, and A Clockwork Orange (an awesome movie).

There are a few thing that should be understood by anyone reading this: you might well be offended at some point, or disgusted, or both, or more; be advised. I am not a proffesional writer; in fact, I’m not very experienced at all. I don’t do it for a living, and I have little regard for rules these days. While that last one (on rules) might change depending on how much I enjoy this and how seriously I want to take my efforts here, the rest should still be kept in mind. My aim isn’t to shock, or to provoke attention, or to engage in shit-slinging contests with anyone that wants to start one. I’m just looking to experiment, express, create, and enjoy myself in the process.

If anyone reading these samples of my soul gets something out of it, good for you.

Hey, sorry I didn’t get around to responding to you sooner. It must have slipped my mind, and then I got preoccupied with other things for a few months. Just wanted to say thanks though, glad you like the idea of it 🙂 .

This sounds amazingly intriguing and enticing. Thank you for following my blog so I could in turn, follow you. I also appreciate you writing this about page for both warnings and clarification. I’m looking forward to reading as this sounds like it’s right up my alley.

Thank you, it means a lot that it’s caught your interest. I’m still working out how I want to fit the darker fiction if I start writing outside of it, so there might be a few changes here, but I’ll probably be posting something new here in the meantime. Hopefully it’ll be something you like 😀 .

I’m sure it will. It’s nice to see another who’s fascinated by life’s darkness.

      🙂 Thank you!

I might be a little slow at accepting, but I very much appreciate the nomination. This is a first for “Sparks of Insanity”, but I’ve got a bunch I’ve got to catch up on accepting at my other blog (that’s the main reason why it could take me a while to get to it).

Good to know, I thought your “Wanderings” was pretty fucked up … I should have read this first to lessen the creepy scary feeling. : ) Dexter – great show. I have no desire to ever seeing Clockwork Orange again. Life is scary and real enough for me but I do appreciate the writing of it as you did. I don’t want to take my mind to those places and create stories like that. I have 2 great seeds of ideas but to create them into stories – I think I’d morph into a gargoyle.

Nah, the creep factor is icing on the cake haha. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how many people have been freaked out by the fiction before realizing it’s only fiction.

“I don’t want to take my mind to those places and create stories like that.”

Understandable. It’s definitely not a head space everyone is comfortable with 😉 .

Can’t believe I forgot to reply to this (and a bunch of other comments here); yeah I loved the movie. The book was, well… haha, I didn’t care for it as much. It’s easier to follow all the made up terminology when you’re watching someone say it .Off the page it’s just kind of annoying. And the author’s idea of a good ending was the complete opposite of what was done in the film. All in all I thought the movie was better.

Inspiration is probably a good enough word… the tricky thing about that is, when I try to peg down what my core inspirations are I can always think of more. Glad you like what you see, and you’re welcome, I’m looking forward to following along with your blogging 🙂 .

    Well, Hello Jack,
It is a pleasure to meet you. I’m so glad you found the Cow Pasture Chronicles. Welcome to the fence jumpers. And, for the record, I love your stories. I too, write stories from the dark side. They creep my family out a bit, but what the hell – we all have a dark side and I find it fascinating to explore.

Haha yeah, I know what you mean. That’s one of the reasons I opted for a pen name – well, that, plus it rolls off the tongue a lot smoother than my given name. Thank you for stopping by and for commenting; am stoked that you’ve liked what you’ve read so far 😀 .

And I’d just like to say, I’m digging your blog. “Pieces of Me” matches the whole idea of what I’m doing on my own site, so I related to it right off the bat. Then the content itself hooked me (it’s awesomeness), so I’m definitely glad we crossed virtual paths.

“And all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
